The Iowa Section IFT believes in supporting food science and culinary food science students. In fact, two students from Iowa State University’s Food Science Club sit on our Executive Board. They have a seat at our table and provide Club updates at all of our meetings. We have a history of offering yearly scholarships in conjunction with Iowa food companies and are now offering student support grants.
Student Support Grants for the Fall Semester 2025 and Spring Semester 2026 are open. Iowa IFT is launching a new student support grant program and moving away from our traditional student scholarships. Funds, up to $500, will be awarded to Iowa State Food Science and Culinary Food Science students, clubs or groups to encourage food science experiences on or beyond campus.
Student support grants can be used for the following
- Conference Travel (IFT FIRST, etc.)
- Club Trips and Events
- IFTSA Competitions (College bowl, research, product development, etc)

Valentine’s Day Fudge!!
The Iowa State University Food Science Club is making Fudge for Valentine’s Day! If you are in the Ames area and would like to order some, please fill out the Qualtrics form below! Fudge may be pre-ordered by submitting an order up until Friday, January 30th, or until sold out.
Flavors this year are:
CHOCOLATE – traditional milk chocolate fudge. Great for gift-giving or enjoying yourself!
PEANUT BUTTER – a sweet and nutty option for peanut lovers.
COOKIES ‘N CREAM – combines white chocolate and America’s favorite cream-filled cookie into a sweet treat.
CHOCOLATE MINT – traditional chocolate fudge blended and topped with mint.
CARDINAL & GOLD – an ISU crowd favorite – chocolate fudge with peanuts and mini marshmallows, topped with Red & Yellow M&Ms.
ORANGE CREAM – white chocolate-based fudge with a delicious orange extract that will bring back nostalgia.
